Reading Gifts from a Freelance Writer

Since I read and write for a living, I’m always on the lookout for interesting literary gifts for my nieces (ages 1 and 4).

OK, so maybe only the older one knows how to read, but I’m bound and determined to have the little one catch up to her big sister as soon as possible.

Reading gift selections for the two most important Little Women in my life.

I don’t believe in waiting until Christmas or a birthday to give an extraordinary gift, so after an impromptu stroll down the children’s aisle at Barnes & Noble I settled on these thee titles for the girls:

Ezra Jack Keats’ classic The Snowy Day, the ever-catchy Chicka Chicak Boom Boom alphabet book, and since it’s never too soon to learn about the great contributions that African Americans have made to society, I also selected Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History by Vashti Harrison.

I look forward to spending many afternoons reading to the little ones…or having them eventually read to me!
